Chivenor sits on the A361 between Barnstaple and Braunton, about five miles and ten minutes from town. Royal Marines Base Chivenor is the reason most people know the name, and a good deal of our work here is getting people on and off the base at hours when nothing else is running.
We also cover Wrafton and Heanton Punchardon, the houses along the A361 and the Tarka Trail where it passes the estuary. Whether it is a Friday night in Barnstaple, the start of leave or a late return, it is the same number and a fare agreed before you travel.

Pickups at the base
We cannot drive onto the base without authorisation, so unless your visit has been cleared in advance, collection and drop-off is at the main gate. Tell us that is where you will be when you book, and give us a mobile number the driver can call when they arrive.
For groups heading out together, an 8 seater is usually cheaper than two cars and keeps everyone on the same timing. Book those early for Friday and Saturday nights.
Leave, weekends and mainline trains
Getting home on leave from North Devon usually means a mainline train, and Barnstaple's line only goes to Exeter. Many people find it easier to go straight to Tiverton Parkway or Exeter St Davids by car, which avoids the Tarka Line and the change at Exeter.
Give us the train you need to catch and we will work the pickup back from it. The same works in reverse on the way back: tell us the arrival time and the car will be waiting, including on a Sunday night.
Late returns from Barnstaple and Braunton
Chivenor is close enough to Barnstaple and Braunton that a taxi back after an evening out is quick and simple. We run all night, so there is no last bus to plan around.
Weekends are our busiest time. Booking your return when you book the outward run means the car is yours, rather than waiting on a busy Saturday night.
