Fremington and Instow sit along the south side of the Taw estuary on the B3233, the old road between Barnstaple and Bideford. Fremington is about three miles out and Instow about six, so a car is usually only ten to fifteen minutes away.
We cover Bickington, Fremington, Yelland and Instow, including the beach and the quay. Because these villages are so close to town, most of our work here is everyday travel: shopping, appointments, the station and evenings out, as well as the occasional early start for an airport.

Typical journey time
Around 10 to 15 minutes via the B3233
Close to town, but not on the bus at night
The B3233 is a short, direct run into Barnstaple, but evening buses along it are limited. That gap is where we come in: getting home after a night out in Barnstaple or Bideford, or getting to the station for an early train before the buses start.
Short journeys are welcome. You do not need to be going far to book, and we agree the fare before you travel, so there is no meter running while you sit in traffic at the Roundswell end of town.
The Tarka Trail and Fremington Quay
The Tarka Trail runs along the old railway line beside the estuary, past Fremington Quay and on through Instow. Walkers and cyclists often go one way on the trail and want a lift back the other.
We can collect from Fremington Quay or the trail at Instow. If you have bikes with you, say so when you book: not every vehicle can carry them, and we will tell you plainly what we can take rather than turning up with the wrong car.
Instow beach and the quay
Instow faces Appledore across the mouth of the Torridge, with a long sandy beach and a quay that gets busy on summer evenings. Parking along the seafront fills quickly, so being dropped off and collected is often easier than driving.
The seasonal ferry to Appledore runs on the tide. If you have crossed on it and missed the last boat back, we can take you round by road via Bideford.
